About Us

Mahjong has a way of bringing people together; the rhythmic shuffle of tiles, the friendly competition, the shared laughter over a clever move. For Amanda Wolsey and Bethany Factor, co-founders of AMR Authority and creators of The Mahj Clubhouse in Fort Worth, this centuries old game is more than a pastime; it’s a bridge between tradition and modern connection, a way to pause from the busyness of life and savor the moment. Their journey from passionate players to the city’s go-to Mahjong community builders is a story of partnership, vision, and a simple question over drinks.

Amanda's Story

Ecclesiastes 1:9

Amanda’s love for the game runs deep. A Fort Worth native, her journey took her from Pittsburgh, where seasoned players welcomed her in and sparked her addiction, back home to Texas. Amid raising four children and volunteering, she began teaching friends, captivated by Mahjong’s rich history and its power to forge deep friendships. What started as informal lessons grew into a demand she couldn’t ignore. Her vision materialized as The Mahj Clubhouse, a boutique-inspired playing room designed to be a haven for intentional socialization, where players of all ages gather for connection, strategy, and laughter.

Bethany's Story

Colossians 3:17

Bethany grew up in Houston and after college, launched her career in Oil and Gas Trading. Yet, she always had the entrepreneurial bug, pursuing several ventures before moving with her family to Fort Worth. An avid tennis player, she loves the tennis ranking system that allows her to compete with players of her own level. It was precisely this concept that sparked the founding idea. Over drinks, Amanda and Bethany wondered, “Why can’t you play Mahjong with your own rank?” That conversation ignited the vision for a structured, competitive, and socially engaging Mahjong community and AMR was born.
