Here at AMR, our mission has always been to foster a competitive and connected mahjong community. We know our AMR players love structured competition, but we also hear you: you want more opportunities to play on your schedule, with more people, in more ways. That’s exactly why we’ve teamed up with this incredible, player-first league.
Mahj in the City, co-founded by best friends Ashley Sigmon and Leigh Young in Charlotte, NC, teaches Mahjong with heart, humor, and deep respect—for the game, its Chinese roots, and the connections it creates. What began as two friends catching the “Mahj Bug” has grown into a vibrant community where thousands have learned to play.
From beginner classes and advanced workshops to open play and their signature Bambird Scramble league expanding across cities, Mahj in the City makes learning joyful and connection easy. In a world focused on wellness and balance, Mahjong stands out as the ultimate brain game—multigenerational, mentally stimulating, and endlessly fun.
